Q. I am remodeling my half bath and I want to install a tile floor. The floor in the bath is cement and I have scrapped up most of the old vinyl, but there is still glue and most of the backing left behind. does this need to be completely removed before i lay down thin set? would it be easier to just put down cement board? I am under a specific time-frame. Which way would be the fastest?

A. Do it right the first time! you still need thinset for the cement board. Use a tile and adhesive remover like Jasco. At least get all the backing material off the floor. Did a 14' x 16' kitchen so a bathroom shouldn't be a problem.

Q. I was watching a home remodeling show once and they had bathroom cabinets, sinks, counter tops, toilets, and bath tubs at some outlet-like store. Where could I find one? If you can find me the name of a company or a store near 33441 or Deerfield Beach, Florida, thanks.

A. It all depends but habitat for humanity has a retail outlet called restore...you could do a google search to see if there is one in your area. You can be creative and refinish a piece of vintage furniture into a vanity. Home depot has a complete bath remodel kit for under $250 its all relative and depends on what you are looking for.

Q. Hello, this question is for any real estate professionals or experienced flippers. I am looking at putting a bid in on a 3 bedroom 1 bath house. It will need some remodeling but i think i can get it at a great price. Before bidding I am putting together a budget of things that need to be done and things i want to be done. This will be my primary residence but i am also thinking of possible resale in a few years.The house has 3 small bedrooms and 1 small bath that is in very bad shape. I was thinking of eliminating 1 bedroom and enlarging 1 bedroom and adding a bath making a small master. which is better for resale? 3bed 1 bath vs 2 bed 2 bath? The house is in an older established neighborhood. the majority of the residents seem to be empty nester's. (as am I) I agree in a perfect situation would be 3 beds and 2 baths but I'm not sure the budget will stretch for that

A. Location is your key to your answer. If your location is family friendly, then 3 br/1bath is what you need to move the property. If it is more attractive to smaller families and/or singles, the 2br/1bath is the way to move it. Remember that we have a whole generation of baby boomers who want to leave their large homes in search of a smaller one. I'd do the 2/2 if it was me.

Q. I have 3 baths in my house, all basically need to be remodeled, probably a the full bath and a half bath will need to be done first. Then the third bath in a couple years. A. I have seen those kind of things in motels. They look tacky and flimsy.

A. Tile!!! Real tile!! Like in my master bath we had long slate tile floors and 3 walls floor to ceiling with tile! It looks amazing blue grey and white!! Great color palette
